On July 22nd 2015, Education for Nature-Vietnam (ENV) and its supporting partners, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Freeland, hosted an awards ceremony for the winners of the “Action for Wildlife” National Artwork Competition. Much to the surprise of ENV and the entire judging panel, the competition attracted over 155,000 entries from 58 of 63 provinces nationwide. ENV believes this tremendous participation reflects the increase in public involvement in the fight against wildlife extinction.
The “Action for Wildlife” National Artwork Competition did not just end with prizes and a press event. Only a month has passed since the closing ceremony and ENV has already utilized these pieces at public events and in print and viral communications. As there is no better weapon than the public’s opinion, ENV will continue to use this artwork to urge the public to stop the wildlife trade, as we are still doing today with the artwork from the 2005 “End Bear Farming and Trade” National Artwork Competition.
